Demolition (Keating Chambers)
Band History
Demolition was formed at short notice in May 2011 in advance of its first live outing at Law Rocks! at The 100 Club, a few weeks later in June. A packed house that night witnessed the band on stage and saw it perform an eclectic mix of melodic moody rock and flash backs to punk and all the excitement that the late 1970’s music scene provided. A tight back beat of drums and bass (Oliver and Paul) provides the platform for swirling lead guitar (Marcus) and a strong vocal presence in the shape of Nick and Juliet. Demolition are loud and proud and not afraid to push songs further and onto a new frontier. Demolition look forward to their debut at Construction Rocks!
Band Members
Marcus Taverner QC - Lead Guitar
Marcus met up with a few colleagues a couple of years ago and bought a new guitar. Left handed guitarist with a penchant for long rambling riffs. His proposal for using the entire slot for his guitar solo was - after a small scuffle and what he considered to be unnecessary use of abusive language and grappling - vetoed, unanimously by the rest of the band.
Oliver Goldsmith - Drums
Ollie started druming aged 2 using wooden spoons and pots and pans in his Nan's kitchen. He has now progressed to a real drum ket with real sticks. "He sounded better on the pots and pans" a listener commented.
Nick Buckworth - Vocal
Nick has sung at some stage before, though some say he cannot sing. He likes music, and in particular live music, and he lost the coin toss so is singing. Even though he cannot really sing. Marcus and Paul said that he had to sing. So he is.
Paul Cooklin - Bass Guitar
Paul's ambition, prior to becoming Consel's Clerk was to be a drummer. But the complete lack of natural rhythmn meant that this wasn't a suitable path to follow. That, and he got a bass guitar for Christmas last year, so was promptly recruited into the band.
Juliet Arthur - Vocals
Juiliet is, perhaps, the only talented person in this band. I mean, seriously. She has the voice of an angel, and a smile so wonderful it warms the heart. Quite what she is doing knocking around with this lot no-one is quite sure.
