Wild S*? Party (WSP)

Band History

Be prepared for the coolest sounds from the glamed up seventies right up to the latest download chart and most of all prepare to shake y'ur booty. Battle of the Bands winners in 2008 – like a floored heavyweight they are back uglier, louder and more in tune than ever.

Band Members

Sarah Thienel - Lead Vocals
Our Lead Singer Sarah was just a small town girl living in a lonely world, when she decided to hitch a ride on a midnight train to Georgia.  She needed a dollar dollar so became a waitress in a cocktail bar to fund her funky little shack with a rose garden, but she thought to herself.... when will I be famous?  Like a bat out of hell she was moving on up to the bright lights of the city, three little birds sat on her window and told her Wild S*? Party needed a singer, Sarah's song had it going on and the band said 'you wanna be in our gang?'.  What a difference a day makes........

Tanya Wadham - Support Vocals
Tanya was accomplished at making a lot of noise (musically and otherwise) from a tender age, learning the piano, violin, guitar, recorder and treble at school. Since leaving school a few years ago, cough, they have all fallen by the wayside along with it her ability to sight read. Being quirky by nature and never afraid of a challenge she has recently acquired a mandolin which she aims to teach herself, much to the disappointment of her housemate. For some strange reason unbeknown to her, her mates and colleagues reckon she can hold a note, low and behold Tanya has recently joined the WSP band and has been doing a wonderful impression of a strangled cat alongside her fellow backing singer Glenda making Sarah (lead) sound all the better.

Glenda Rivetti - Support Vocals
There is no doubt that Glenda loves music, any expression of it really! At the age of 5 she joined a ballet school that she abandoned only after twelve years (never abandoned the dance floor though). At the age of eight she started learning the organ and despite her initial lack of enthusiasm for this instrument (it was the only course available at that time) she completed four levels and at fourteen awarded her diploma in (music) theory and solfeggio (reading music to the English). In the meanwhile she sang in her local church and festivals in her hometown, Cremona, Italy. She leareds guitar by herself during university and with it sang her favourite songs to friends and neighbours (she does apologise to all of them now).

Jonathan Walter - Lead Guitar
Inspired by 2 guys named Mick (Jones of the Clash and Ronson from the The Spiders from Mars) Jon started learning the guitar at seven and was finished by half past eight... Aged 16 he co-founded  the now legendary Nottingham band Sister Ray and people still stop him in the street up there to ask about a re-union. Mostly to beg him not to do it.  Showing an amazing lack of loyalty he left his mates behind, got a haircut and joined the more successful mod band The Riki Tics who went on to support the Jam. In a Spinal Tap style re-union he then begged his mates to take him back and they went on to perform as Smack and played several times in London in the early eighties attracting interest from EMI. Jon still has the letter from EMI and looks at it from time to time and dreams of what might have been.

Bill Price - Bass
Bill started playing acoustic bass at the age of 10 but unfortunately his grandmother told him it was actually called a cello. All memories of this phase of Bill’s life (including being able to read music) have now faded. Bill’s approach in the 21st century has been to use the bass more as a visual prop, something to hold on to rather than as an instrument. During an early gig at a Star Wars convention he was heckled savagely when someone said ‘its bass playing Bill but not as we know it’.

David Maundrill - Drums
David is a guitarist.

Mike McLoughlin - Tenor Sax
Played with various bands around Europe through the 70’s; the London wine bar/pub scene in the 80’s/90’s. Thought he’d left Rock ‘n’ Roll behind  for the relaxing sounds of modern jazz, until being rudely awakened and recruited into Wild S** Party to play the music of his childhood. Is he in seventh heaven??……….or just going senile. What the hell!
