Please email us at info@constructiontrocks.com to register interest and obtain an entry form.

Construction Rocks 2023

Well Construction did indeed Rock on 23rd November 2023 as planned. This was our 16th anniversary.

The Water Rats venue was a little cosy and we think we had over 160 people present on the night. Our 5 bands played a 20 minute set each and they were all brilliant.

Stand out Best Band was WHO’S NEXT (KHL)

Best Performance went to newcomers PAPER JAM (SCOTCH PARTNERS)

Best Fund raiser was ZERO HARM (KELLER) who generated almost £4,000 for The Prince’s Trust and LandAid.

Overall the 2023 event raised almost £11,000 for good causes.

Bill Price and Marta Hostynska of WSP and Nigel Fraser of West One Management Consulting would like to thank the bands, audience, judges, MC (Chris Liddle of HLM), sponsors, Barry Perrin for the drum ‘breakables’, venue staff and photographer John Duke.

Construction Rocks 2023 Update

After some complications around securing a venue for Construction Rocks 2023, we have settled on:

The Water Rats

Close to Kings Cross on the Gray’s Inn Road.

The date for the diary is Thursday 23 November.

The Water Rats has bags of iconic and legendary character:

The venue has a prestigious history including Bob Dylan's first UK gig in 1962, The Pogues first gig in 1982 and Oasis' first London gig in 1994, along with a roll call of other household names throughout the years from Katy Perry to The Courteeners to Ra Ra Riot.

Make Music Day – 21st June 2022

Construction Rocks sponsors the establishment of the first Make Music Day festival at the Portway Annexe in Wells, Somerset. The event enabled 8 local acts to perform at a fund raiser for the newly established Wells Contemporary Music Centre, which is supported by sister organisation Wells Rocks (wellsrocks.org). This helped the city of Wells achieve recognition by the national organisers of Make Music Day as a “Great Music Place”.

Wells Rocks joins Construction Rocks.

Construction Rocks Returns!

Construction Rocks 2022 will take place on Monday 14th November and Tuesday 15th November at new venue Hall Two @ Kings Place, 90 York Way, London, N1 9AG

Construction Rocks 2021 Review

Construction Rocks 2021 turned out to be a vintage year. With fewer band than in 2019 due to rehearsal  and band member availability, it was a more relaxed event. The bands all performed brilliantly and you could sense the friendship and their shared interest in performing. The fans also lingered well into the evening enjoying the effort everyone had put in.

The judges were on good form with a mixture of positive commentary on performances plus observations on clothing, stage antics and song choices.

The venue (Under the Bridge) was better than ever with new PA and a very helpful team attending to band requests and riders.

Fund raising for LandAid and other good causes was good especially by three particular bands who had secured company match funding and generally motivated their fans to donate generously.  We will announce the total raised once all outgoings are finalised.

Construction Rocks 2021 Headline Sponsor

We are pleased to announce that this years headline sponsor is Wardell Armstrong.

Thank you Wardell Armstrong

Construction Rocks 2021

We are pleased to say that Under the Bridge is now booked for Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 October 2021.

Clearly its all subject to making continued progress with the exit from C19 and the 21 June ‘removal of all legal limits on social contact’ announced on Monday 22 February.

Our thoughts on what’s possible (although you must refer to government guidelines for up to date accurate information):

From 29 March, rule of 6, outdoors in a private garden could be a practice session?

From 12 April, outdoor hospitality open and might enable an outdoor pub gig to happen?

From 17 May, rule of 6 indoors, hotels and hospitality, ‘most social contact rules lifted’, distanced indoor gig? Or small (not more than 30 people) street party? BBQ?

From 21 June, ‘legal limits on social contact removed’, reopen final sectors of the economy…

Construction Rocks Update

We hope to run Construction Rocks 2021 in October. We are in discussion again with our 2019 venue, Under the Bridge (Stamford Bridge) and expect to announce dates around Easter time.

In the meantime can you send us some Rockdown photos for our gallery showing how you have been continuing to make music in one way or another.

Summertime 2020, Rule of 6, Socially distanced outdoor practice.

COVID-19 Update

With the UK in a third Rockdown its been next to impossible to practice as a band or even be together. Hopefully some of you will have been able to form a musical bubble or manage some distanced outdoor activity in 2020.

We will be endeavouring to run the event in 2021 in the usual way and you should email info@constructionrocks.com for further information.

We are also sorry to say that in 2020, Construction Rocks did not happen  in Australia, New Zealand, Washington or Gothenburg.

The Construction industry set to Rock out for another year

Band entries for the construction industry’s one and only battle of the bands, Construction Rocks, are now almost closed with just two band places available. Tickets are still available.

In just under a month’s time, one of the biggest annual events on the construction industry’s calendar, will see bands from the construction and property sectors compete against each other in the name of charity.
Construction Rocks, established by WSP Director, Bill Price and Nigel Fraser, West One Management Consulting has raised a total of £142,000 since its inception in 2008, topping at its record raising £32,000 in 2017 with majority proceeds going to UK property industry charity, LandAid.
“Construction Rocks is a unique event that is not only tremendous fun, but also gets the whole industry engaged for a great cause every year”, says Bill Price, Director at WSP. “Over 1200 people turned up over two nights last year as competitors, fundraisers and audience members at our biggest venue to date at Scala, King’s Cross London. We’re aiming for our highest fundraising total this year and we’ve no doubt we can do it with the industry’s support.”

Spread across two days at Scala, Kings Cross on 24th and 25th October, a total of 16 bands will compete to win ‘Best Band’, ‘Best Performer’ or ‘Best Fundraiser’ with the opportunity to win studio time at Kore Studios.
